I was asked some questions about my own personal experience at the the last Provocative Hypnosis Intensive training.
So here are the questions… and my thoughts…

Hi Wayne,
Provocative Hypnosis is generating a lot of interest and it would seem that provocative work is proving quite the “in thing” at the moment. Congratulations on generating so much interest in Jorgen’s work he sounds very gifted and interesting and i’m sure we can all learn alot from him.
Questions: How have you used this in your work with people? Do you use it all the time? or just with certain people? How long have you been doing it? has it ever gone wrong?
well you did invite questions………..lol
I thank you for emailing me and I look forward to your response.
Love (Name Witheld)

I use the models he presents as part of nearly all the stuff I do. Some of the pre-framing techniques he teaches are absolute gold in my opinion. Basically you cannot not use them to some extent once you bear witness to their impact in the seminar and beyond.
Jorgen has gone from the training room to working with the worlds ‘impossibles for over 11yrs. He has now brought his knowledge out from the trenches and is presenting it to those people who are serious about results. Things that he beleives are so fundamental but not generally taught in traditional Hypnosis/NLP. From full out Provocation techniques exquisitely defined and balanced, to the subtle but equally important naunces that will quite literally… blow you away…
For example, telephone work when potential clients are seeking help. What to scan for, How to ascertain hypnotic capacity over the telephone, unconscious commitment, Scanning for generative lasting change, and what to do when NLP techniques do not work… To name but a few…
One of the major keys for me was getting commitment from clients (conscious/unconsciously) which is extremely powerful in its own realm and saves not only your time but the clients. I must admit to having wasted many hours working with people and dedicating my time and efforts (sometimes for free) in assisting people that said they wanted help. Time I no longer waste because I am so much sharper in my approaches.
Jorgen explains in depth about the ‘how too’s’ of getting commitment. The ‘when too’s’ of walking away from a client knowing you are not the best person to serve them. The ‘who too’s’ in choosing actors for specific tasks that you set them to assist in ‘covert’ changework…
I learned multiple ways to get commitment, advanced strategies incorporating tasking/actors/ordeals etc. Then once having an understanding of the models and demonstrating the process, it’s down to your own creative mind to add your own ingredients to this exciting blend.
Another principle learning for me was when you get someone to commit fully and unequivocally (they have already changed to some extent) whilst through this ‘you’ have commited ‘yourself’ fully to the game. This method alone was priceless for me in so many different ways…
Another fascinating area of discovery for me that entwines with the above was that if you decide not to work with a client you can do so without any responsibility/burden on yourself. What I mean here is that through Jorgens way screening, calibrating, and testing, you are doing not only yourself but your clients a profound, proffessional service. I think lot of change-workers from time to time experience the ‘I could have done more’ syndrome, and the feelings of inadequacy or guilt that can sometimes follow. Clients can have a great unfluence in their beliefs that you have to do something, anything, to ‘save’ them from their despair…
With Provocative Hypnosis you do everything and more by your pre-talks, commitment strategies and a complete and utter mutual respect for every unique individual you encounter. That way you can walk away from a specific client congruent that you have done your work, above and beyond normal practice… Even if you make the decision not to work with them based on their best interests…
Here’s a Very brief example: I had a friend of an alcoholic (Joe) visit me and he said he wanted his friend (Pete) to stop drinking… (Pete) drank from 8am till he knocked himself out. Joe said “Pete was going to die unless (I) did something about it”. So multiple things to consider here and first it’s not Pete knocking on my door it’s Joe!!!
Joe was proclaiming he would pay whatever it takes for me to help and that Pete was just as willing to change but was just too pissed to come see me himself as ‘it was the afternoon and he starts drinking at 8am’…
Utilising what i’d learned from Jorgen and listening to Joe trying his best to make me responsible for his drunken friend I offered the following… I said I would see Pete ‘sober’ in my office at 2pm Thursday ‘for free’ for twenty minutes and in that twenty minutes I would find out from Pete what he wanted to achieve and If I was prepared to work with him. I said it really matter of factly and ‘calibrated’ Joe’s non verbal responses… Bear in mind Joe’s belief that Pete ‘can’t do afternoons sober’… Eventually, Joe declined with a look of ‘you xxxxxxxxxxx’ insert mind read here…
I was then accused of not being helpful and how could I expect Pete to show sober at 2pm when he drinks from 8am. I said again (matter of factly) I had set down the criteria and if he really wanted to change then he would be at my office on Thursday 2pm (sober)… He didn’t show… No problem to me and I relinquished any responsibilities I may have once held onto for that person… Willing and cleansed after my neurological shower… for my full blown commitment to my next client…
I received a text message from Joe just before xmas that said… “just thought i’d let you know even though you probably don’t give a shit that Pete hasn’t had a drink for over 8 weeks… I would say thanks but what would I be thanking you for as you did fuck all… He decided to go it alone and did it for himself”…
What a result… Allellujah… Pete’s done it… Pete probably never even knew about me and who really cares… Whatever he’s done he’s done and whatever I did I did… With congruence, ethics and a clear mind… I’m happy, Pete’s Happy and Joe… Well Joe’s still unhappy… Anyone want a client – free to a good home?
You mention has it ever gone wrong… I’m mind reading here that your’e talking about an extreme case of provocation backfiring? Well, Not yet… Although I believe that through ‘calibration’ which is a major part of the course, and in my opinion part and parcel of being a great NLPer, you scale to the person in front of you… One of the major learnings for some was that they were (anxiously) expecting a raving lunatic at the front hurling abuse at people and so forth.
Things couldn’t be further from the truth and Jorgen is a very caring and thoughtful person that utilises a multitude of skills based on who is in front of him.
I can go on… But I’m aware that we’re in the process of producing some audio for the site but I hope this gives you an insight to some of the things you’ll be taking away from this course…
